Welcome to week 1 of my Polycystic Ovary journey. If you've randomly ended up here, you could check out the first article in this series for a bit of background to my journey. OR you could just start here, I'm just glad you've landed on my blog! I also post daily updated on my TikTok account to keep myself motivated.
Day 1
Day one was spent working out what I am going to eat, what exercise I will be doing and how I am going to go about my journey. I also ate a lot more healthy foods today and finished the day eating an amazing duck and roast vegetables meal, which was healthy but still a bit of a treat before I fully launch myself into my new eating habits.
Day 2

Today I started my journey and as I am currently working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was relatively easy to start. For breakfast I had Rice Crispies, I know these are not the healthiest option but I had a much smaller portion than I usually would have; it's important to slowly settle into healthy eating habits otherwise they won't last! For lunch, I had a salad which consisted of lettuce leaves, chicken fried with olive oil and a sliced up cooked beetroot. My best friend is moving away and so this evening we went for a Thai at our favourite restaurant. I stuck to my healthy eating and had chicken stir fry in Oyster sauce and didn't have the jasmine rice!
Day 3

I got up really early this morning to start my day with a sea swim!
The sea was freezing but I stayed in for about 10 minutes and felt so fresh when I got out. Sea swimming is said to have all sorts of health benefits from mental well-being to improving blood circulations. After my swim, I went home and had a shower before having my breakfast which was yoghurt and blueberries. I then started my day of work before having the same salad as yesterday for my lunch with the remaining items. For my mid-afternoon snack I ate some blueberries and then in the evening I went down to the beach to meet my two friends (social distancing applied) and had a sardine salad whilst watching the sunset over St Ouens bay
Day 4

Today was another work from home day. I started it off with a 30-minute power walk and then I had breakfast which was yoghurt and honey before starting my day of work. At lunch, I made a salad using avocado, feta cheese and cherry tomatoes which was delicious! I spent the afternoon working and then after work, I went out for food at St Aubin's bay's NUDE Food and had a salmon and noodle stir fry which was delicious! I also indulged in one of their healthy smoothies which was called 'Boost' and was a mix of seasonal fruits.
Day 5

I started my day with a 30-minute power walk, followed by honey on yoghurt for breakfast. I then started my day working from home before pausing for lunch. I made a tomato and egg flatbread and once I had finished my afternoon of work I prepped a salad to take with me to a family BBQ. Lock-down restrictions mean this is now allowed and so we made the most of being able to see our family again! Taking a salad meant that I didn't feel the need to binge on the buffet and I was able to keep to my healthy eating for the fourth day running.
Day 6

Breakfast was protein pancakes followed by a 30-minute power walk with my dog Alan. Once I got back from my walk I decided to go for a sea swim to cool down and enjoy the gorgeous Jersey weather. I then had lunch which was a tuna and tomato salad. In the afternoon I went to the garden centre and got a little bit sunburnt; when I got home a re-potted a tree that I have been growing on my balcony for over a year as it has outgrown it's the current one. I then made tea which was a Hello Fresh smokey banger pasta bake; to make it a bit healthier I didn't add the cheese, this was very tough because melted cheese is my Achilles heel! Proud of myself on that one!
Day 7

Today marks a week of my journey and I made a bit step which was not giving in to a fry up whilst my family tucked in! Instead, I had some yoghurt with honey and blueberries and enjoyed the sunshine in the garden. For lunch, I had an avocado, cherry tomato, feta cheese and poached egg salad and then in the evening, I made a Thai green curry from Hello Fresh which I packed up into take away boxes. I drove to the beach and tucked into my 'take-away' whilst watching the sunset and it was the perfect way to end my first week of my new, healthier lifestyle of my PCOS journey!
