I'm going to start this blog post by giving myself a little pat on the back. The first week is 100% the hardest step of any lifestyle change and I made it through! Although it does take 21 days to create a habit, so I've still got another two weeks ahead of me before I will hopefully be fully in the swing of a healthier lifestyle.
If you have just landed on my blog, welcome! You might want to read my journey from the start, or you can just join me here, at the start of week 2!
Day 8

I started today off with a 30-minute power walk and then got home and had breakfast which was yoghurt with granola and honey. I then started working before stopping for lunch when I had a salad with a boiled egg, feta cheese and cherry tomatoes. Once I finished my afternoon of work, I went for a walk with Alan at Fern Valley, this is the first time I had been to the valley and I'm pleased to have found it! After the walk, I got Thai takeaway; I had a veggie stir fry in an oyster sauce which was delicious.
Day 9

Today started with granola, yoghurt and honey for breakfast before starting my workday. For lunch I had a carrot and poached egg salad; this definitely wasn't my favourite and I won't be making this one again but it's important to try different things. I also went for a power walk on my lunch, only a short one (15 minutes) because I had to get back to work. Once the evening came around, I went for a walk around the St Clements country trail and once I got home I ran myself a relaxing bath. For tea, I had herby crusted chicken with garlicky green beans from Hello Fresh.
Day 10

This morning started with a power walk along the beach followed by porridge for breakfast. I found that the porridge caused bloating in my stomach, but I did feel full for the morning. For lunch, I had a tuna and cherry tomato salad and then after work, I went for a walk around St Ouen's forest with the little man. For my evening meal, I had sweet and sour pork with bulgar wheat which is a great alternative to rice, this was also from Hello Fresh!
Day 11

It's my 22nd Birthday! As much as I wanted to make today a cheat day, I've been doing so well with my healthy eating so I decided to try and be as good as possible. For breakfast, I had FAGE yoghurt (greek style 5% fat) with granola and honey and then started my morning of work. I took a half-day today so finished at 12:45 just as a sushi platter arrived from Bento Sushi! I then got a delivery of flowers from my work and another from my boyfriend which was lovely. I had to get my power walk in so I went down to the beach for 45 minutes. In the evening my boyfriend organised a surprise BBQ for me with my family; along with the normal bbq food, he also bought me some chicken, some vegetable crips and salad so that I could keep relatively healthy. My day finished on a high because I got my degree results through and I have officially finished it!! An all-round awesome day.
Day 12

I started my first day of being 22 with a power walk along the beach and for breakfast, I had a fruit bowl of apple and blueberries. I then started my day of work and for lunch, I had avocado, mashed with olive oil and a little bit of salt with chicken and cherry tomatoes. In the evening after work, I went for a power walk around the reservoir with the dogs. I was a really long walk and I was walking very fast at the end as it started to get dark. For dinner, I had a jacket potato with a salad of boiled eggs, salad, coleslaw and beetroot.
Day 13

I didn't have any yoghurt left for breakfast so started my day with a trip to the shop - the yoghurt I have is FAGE Total 5% fat greek yoghurt. I added blueberries and honey and that's what I had for my breakfast. I then went out on my morning power walk which was an hour today rather than my usual 30 minutes. For lunch, I had mashed avocado, scrambled eggs and Rivitas. As its the weekend, to celebrate my exams results we got take away from NUDE food. I had seared salmon and vegetable stir fry!
Day 14

I decided to weigh myself today as it has been two weeks since I started my lifestyle changes and I have lost 4kg (8.8 pounds)! I am so proud of myself for this; I still don't fit into my jeans but seeing the progress I'm making has really motivated me to keep going! For breakfast, I had blueberries, honey and yoghurt and then we went for a walk in the forest with Alan (our dog). For lunch, I had tuna, avocado and cherry tomato salad. I then decided to do some low-intensity exercises; it's my first time adding this to my day so I wasn't great but I'm keen to build on my walks by doing some at-home exercises. For tea, I made a spag bowl (and yes I did have white pasta but I didn't have any whole grain so it had to do). I've also noticed that my skin has really improved since I've cut out processed foods - a great end to my second week!
